Once you have checked it, changing the email is one of the fastest ways to take full control. How you do it, and when, is different for each game and publisher. HoYoverse accounts (Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero) need several days of active play before you change any account details. You can usually secure other games sooner. For games where you cannot change the email, we give you full access to the original email. You can then reset the password and manage the account yourself.
